Mastering Engineer Collin Jordan became obsessed with music and sound at a very early age. He gave his first performance when he was five and continued to play in bands and ensembles throughout his childhood, eventually being crowned the rudimental snare drum champ of South Carolina. He went on to attain both a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance and an Associate's Degree in Sound and Acoustics from the prestigious School of Music at Indiana University; an institution consistently ranked among the top five music schools in the country.
After graduation, Collin moved to Chicago where he landed his first industry job as R. Kelly's "phone bitch" at the notorious Chicago Trax studios in the middle of the Cabrini-Green housing projects. He paid his dues at Trax, Battery Studios/Jive Records, and at a number of other Chicago facilities before working his way up to Chief Engineer at Alien Sound, which at the time boasted one of the world's biggest ProTools rigs and was featured on the cover of Mix Magazine. After several years at Alien, Collin struck out on his own to create The Boiler Room, one of Chicago's only studios devoted entirely to music mastering. At The Boiler Room, Collin has slowly built up an impressive and fervent client base to become one of Chicago's most experienced mastering engineers.
In addition to his years of thorough study of recording equipment and techniques, acoustical physics, and advanced mathematics, Collin has an extensive musical background with three decades of music performance and touring experience. Over the past decade-plus he has mastered thousands of records for clients in every genre and on every continent except Antarctica, but has always remained committed to serving the creative vision of the artist.
To the left and right are just a few of the artists and labels whose music has run under Collin's fingertips.
